1918 Model T Ford Runabout

This car was fitted with a Brisbane built "Peel" body in 1918. It has fittings and guards which are not considered "consistant with a Model T".

The black and white photo shows the car as found in the 1960's in country Queensland. The unusual windscreen pillars are branded under the adjustment wing-nuts on each side, "Welsh Bros. Sydney".

The car was restored by Peter and Billie Jenkins of Albury Victoria. At it's 1st outing in 1972 it won "Peoples Choice Award". The black and white photo shows the car as it originally started out, as a Tourer, but it was restored as a runabout.

We purchased the "T" from friends in Victoria. It all started while visiting and staying with them, and Greg saying, "We would like a Veteran one day, and we will buy this Model T one day!"

The reply was, "It is not for sale", but we were not in a hurry! 12 months later we received a phone call. "We are ready to sell the Model T". Christine and I jumped at the opportunity, and brought the Brisbane built car home November 2004, 86 years after it was built here! Our Veteran Model T Ford is now a regular at Car Rallys in South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. It is enjoyed and driven by us both.

The Ford is a good example of the variation in the different builders of coachwork in the day, being totally different to other Model T Fords.
